The Age of Self Obsession with Johnathan Rice & Matthew Frost

Madison Square

October 01, 2018

Musician Johnathan Rice and Director Matthew Frost hosted an evening of songs, poems, film and conversation about today’s self-obsessed fashionista, social media and celebrity culture. Rice spent most of his life onstage, behind the scenes, touring the world, writing songs for Meryl Streep, and acting alongside Joaquin Phoenix. In 2016 his Instagram poetry went viral and became a bestselling book, Farewell My Dudes. Frost, who began his career directing music videos, recently released a series of satirical shorts gone viral, featuring Kate Winslet, Jessica Chastain, Cate Blanchett, Lizzy Caplan and Kirsten Dunst. Rice’s “Dystopian Haikus” and Frost’s “Boomerang” project starring Mackenzie Davis illuminate the wise cracks in our dark world.
