Taylor Steele’s Proximity presents a visceral portrait of modern surfing. The film follows eight of the world’s best surfers – Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Shane Dorian, Steph Gilmore, Craig Anderson, Albee Layer, Dave Rastovich, and John John Florence – as they search for new waves and deeper understanding in exotic destinations. The screening and Q&A with the cast and creative team was complemented with photographic work by Todd Glaser, four VR films – one from each filming location –, and surfboards created by artist Richard Phillips. Screening and talk presented in collaboration with Gagosian.
