Offsite: Judd Foundation Tour: Guided Visit of 101 Spring Street

Madison Square

February 15, 2017

Members enjoyed an off-site visit to Judd Foundation’s 101 Spring Street, Donald Judd’s first owned New York residence and studio. Centered on the belief that the placement of art is as critical to its understanding as the work itself, Judd’s first applications of this idea were realized in his installation of works throughout 101 Spring Street. Judd’s installations of artworks, furniture, and decorative objects strike a balance between respect for the historic nature of the building and his innovative approaches to architecture and design.
