Gallery Tour: Hernan Bas

March 9, 2016

Members joined us for a gallery visit at Lehmann Maupin in the presence of the painter Hernan Bas for his new solo exhibition Bright Young Things. The artist, whose work reflects a distinctive boldness as inspired by the likes of poetry, literature, and mythology through graphic and colorful strokes, walked us through his work, which explores the bourgeois aspect of queerness. With the new show marking his fourth solo exhibition at the renowned gallery, guests were able to preview the work, which featured paintings of eccentric bohemian aristocrats, their day-to-day lives, debauched nights, and intimate exchanges, in a tantalizing and vibrant collection. Image courtesy of the artist and Lehmann Maupin, New York and Hong Kong.
