Dance | Trisha Brown Dance Company: Archiving the Gesture

Madison Square

October 05, 2016

NeueHouse welcomed a unique lecture-demonstration around the archiving and transmission of Trisha Brown’s artistic work, from two distinct vantage points. While archive Director Cori Olinghouse looked at documentation to map Brown’s interdisciplinary mind in movement, and encapsulate her elusive, improvisational approach to moving, dancer Shelley Senter performed improvisations around a selection of the choreographer’s early works, exploring the body as an archive. Newly restored video and film excerpts from the Trisha Brown Archive will be unveiled.
