Offsite: Studio Visit with Artist Francoise Grossen

Madison Square

13 July, 2017

Members started their day with an intimate morning tour of Swiss-born/ NY-based Francoise Grossen‘s studio. The pioneer textile artist known for her braided and knotted rope sculptures first splashed on to the NY art scene in the late sixties at MoMA’s Wall Hangings exhibition, where her sculptures stood alongside works by Sheila Hicks and Eva Hesse. Now 73, the peripatetic artist opened her 15th Street loft—which she has called both studio and home for over 30 years. Organized with Blum & Poe.
