Gereon Wetzel and Jörg Adolph’s How to Make a Book with Steidl follows renown book publisher Gerhard Steidl recording first-hand the organized chaos that is daily life at Steidl Publishers. From book concept to design, from editorial and prepress to printing, the film exposes the craft of bookmaking today. Accompanying Steidl on travels to artists’ studios and galleries, the filmmakers also capture some of the publisher’s unique collaborators including the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Ed Ruscha, John Cohen. Steidl himself joined us for a Q&A after the screening.
