The NeueHouse Art Program offers a framework for members to discover new artists, learn more about collecting, and dive deeper into the inner workings of the art market.
Opening night of Swedish-American painter Ole Olofson’s new exhibition at NeueHouse Venice Beach presented The Deed of Light, a series of abstract, layered works on canvas. In practice, the artist typically works on several canvases simultaneously, building layers upon layers. He scrapes and sands the surface, using water and wet abrasives, then re-layers it with paints, pigments, clear pastes and/or varnish. He repeats this process, adding and refining each layer, until the piece is complete.
Olofson lives and works between Los Angeles, Maui, and Helsingborg, Sweden. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Galleri Hörnan in Sweden, and the Patricia Correia Gallery in Santa Monica.
Members and guests are invited to view The Deed of Light in Annex 73 at NeueHouse Venice Beach through the end of May.
